Taiko Audio SGM Extreme server
The ultimate streaming audio platform?

Taiko Audio.

A new brand for MAX which encompasses the best streaming platform ever made – the SGM Extreme is the undisputed ‘state of the art’ music server. Extreme? Well, it’s 45kg for a start…

Taiko Audio’s SGM Extreme is designed to deliver the most realistic sounding reproduction from stored music files or streaming music via Qobuz and Tidal.

The specification beggars belief:

  • Music files can be stored in the internal storage up to 24 TB or in a NAS (Network attached Storage) or external USB-connected SSDs.
  • Twelve 4Gb custom order industrial memory modules for 48Gb in total.
  • Dual Intel Xeon Scalable 10 core –. 20 thread CPUs for 20 cores – 40 threads in total.
  • Dual multicore CPUs runninga custom assembled operating system built from the ground up using the Windows 10 components designed for industrial controller applications with SOTA process schedulers. All data and software storage is non-SSD, and utilizes non-SATA, non-volatile solid state storage modules.
  • A no compromise 400va linear power supply.
  • Panzerholz chassis, completely passively cooled for undisturbed silent operation.

The SGM is a Roon Endpoint and all that is required is your preferred DAC and nd you’re ready to roll.

Of course all this geekery would count for nothing if the end result – the sound – didn’t live up to the superlative engineering.

Happily, it does indeed – this truly is a ground-breaking ‘high-end’ component already being recognised as in a class of of its own for file-based replay.

Highly recommended to all serious audiophiles.
