Audiophile-grade file-based replay from a company who actually began with ‘high-end’ turntable engineering.

Melco.

Makoto Maki, perhaps best-known for his Buffalo computer peripheral products, is a long-time audiophile, having developed a turntable of superb build quality in the 1980s.

Fast forward four decades, and he wanted a high quality storage system for file-based audio replay. Finding the available offerings not up to his requirements, the decision was taken to build a system from the ground up.

Melco Syncrets was created in 2016 to focus on building products leveraging Buffalo’s expertise but uncompromised by the normal limitations of computer-based audio sources.

In the early days of ‘computer audio’ I would normally recommend Apple products, from which it was possible to get good sound quality, but not to the standards achieved by ‘high-end’ vinyl or CD replay.

So personally it was a breath of fresh air when the first generation Melco was put in front of me. At last – an audiophile storage system optimised for the highest of audio quality.

The‘ next generation’ EX series platform – both hardware and software – continues to evolve, opening up further possibilities for stored and streamed music.
