Soulnote products may appear conventional, albeit distinctively styled, but closer examination reveals several aspects of their approach which veers away from conventional thinking.
Measurement of performance in audio components is normally done in a ‘static’ state, utilising simple test tones and sweeps. Soulnote believes these tests don‘t accurately reflect what happens with a dynamic music signal, which is far more complex and nuanced. This complexity makes it extremely difficult to measure meaningfully, hence every aspect of a Soulnote design is subject to extensive listening tests.
From this perspective, they consider every aspect of a design; circuit design, component choice and mounting, circuit layout, and mechanical construction and isolation are all painstakingly and obsessively assessed and optimised. Standard methods and solutions are examined in search of possibly superior alternatives.
This of course would all count for nothing if it didn‘t produce tangible results. I think a demonstration of any of the Series 3 amps or (Series 2) phono stage will make a very convincing case for their approach.
Built and finished in Japan to impeccable standards, Soulnote is proof of what can be achieved with a clear vision and a passion for artful musical reproduction.
